“PLEASE SEND THIS E-MAIL ALERT TO EVERY FEMALE YOU KNOW”! Every so often, this message and others like it will pop up in our e-mail or SMS. Whether the incidents described are real or not, they are helpful in alerting us to possible threats to our personal safety and ways of preventing ourselves from becoming victims. Following are a few such messages. Please note that originality of the messages has been retained as much as possible.

Remote gate

THIS is scary!!! Happening in KL. Beware of any people hanging outside (within 100m?) of your house. Note: the lady getting into the house using remote gate. A friend residing in the new Taman Palm Grove near the surau (It happened two to three weeks ago). She could not open her remote-controlled gate because someone tied her gate. She thought her remote control was faulty and she came down from her car to check and she was chopped (hands etc) by a man who had a parang. She lost her handbag and she was hospitalised. It happened in Taman Gembira Klang. There were 2 men who planned this attack. They tied up remote-controlled gate and waited to strike. Please pass this and warn those who own remote-controlled gates to please beware. Share with your sisters, daughters, nieces, mothers, and female friends. This incident has been confirmed.

The friendly painter

A MAN came over and offered his services as a painter to a female putting gas in her car and left his card. She said no, but accepted his card out of kindness and got in the car. The man then got into a car driven by another gentleman. As the lady left the service station, she saw the men following her out of the station at the same time. Almost immediately, she started to feel dizzy and could not catch her breath. She tried to open the window and realised that the odour was on her hand; the same hand which accepted the card from the gentleman at the gas station.

She then noticed the men were immediately behind her and she felt she needed to do something at that moment. She drove into the first driveway and began to honk her horn repeatedly to ask for help. The men drove away but the lady still felt pretty bad for several minutes before she could finally catch her breath. Apparently, there was a substance on the card that could have seriously injured her.

This drug is called “BURUNDANGA” and it is used by people who wish to incapacitate a victim in order to steal from them.

This drug is four times more dangerous than the date rape drug and is transferable on simple cards. So take heed and make sure you don’t accept cards at any given time alone or from someone on the streets. This applies to those making house calls and slipping you a card when they offer their services .

Women’s Rights 6pm to 6am

I WAS talking with a lawyer friend of mine. We were discussing the law and women`s rights.

She told me about this incident where a young girl was raped by a man posing as a plain-clothes (police) officer. He asked her to come to the police station when she and her male friend didn’t have a driver’s licence to show.

He sent the boy off to get his licence and asked the girl to accompany him to the police station.

Took her instead to an isolated area where the horrendous crime was committed.

In fact, the law clearly states that between 6pm and 6am, a woman has the right to REFUSE to go to the police station, even if an arrest warrant has been issued against her. It is a procedural issue that a woman can be arrested between 6pm and 6 am, ONLY if she is arrested by a woman officer and taken to an ALL WOMEN police station. And if she is arrested by a male officer, it has to be proven that a woman officer was on duty at the time of arrest. It is good for us to know our rights. To what extent it comes of use remains to be seen in any situation. But knowledge is power.

I don't know whether this is true or not, but still, it's for your own good. Nowadays, it's not safe out there. Female, and even male, please be aware of your surrounding and the incident happened nowadays.

*I just don't understand, if wanna have sex, why don't they go brothel and find some whore or prostitute? Why must they rape people? I just don't understand.
